"When my family moved to the area, I visited numerous preschools, but none provided the emphasis on education, safety, and independence that I wanted for my daughter. Then I found Strongbridge Montessori School. After observing Hilary, and staff with the children, I signed up right away. It has proven to be the best decision! I am amazed daily by the things my daughter is learning. Math, reading, geography, arts... and the best part is that she loves school! This positive attitude toward learning coupled with the social skills that my daughter develops in the classroom and on the playground each day are invaluable! I will certainly be sending my son as well... Thank you Strongbridge!!" - JR (Mckinleyville)
"After considering the potential of homeschooling as well as viewing other local preschool programs, it was obvious that Strongbridge stood miles above any other option available. I enrolled my son in June of 2005 when Strongbridge first opened its doors. We stayed involved in the program until my son was too old to attend any longer. During that time I saw many areas of growth. Not only in my son, but also in the student body and their families. Enrollment increased each semester as families shared their positive experiences with other community members. The families of Strongbridge became a support network for each other and students developed a respect for themselves and their peers that can only come from a safe, happy, and supportive learning environment. Another area of amazing growth that I witnessed was my son's academics. The Montessori method of learning allowed my son to blossom academically by providing him with exciting materials to work with as well as allowing him the freedom to move independently throughout the environment, pursuing activities of his own interest. Without being pushed to an uncomfortable academic level, the joy of learning propelled him to want to learn more. By the time he left Strongbridge at age five, he was reading at a second grade level. He understood advanced mathematical functions such as multiplication, division, and fractions. He also excelled at map-making, learning several countries and their territories. Of course all of these wonderful things would not have been possible without the competent and experienced direction of Hilary Mosher, the director/administrator of Strongbridge. Hilary is a dynamic individual who brings a much-needed passion to education. The children in her program are treated with kindness and respect. In return, they display obvious love for Hilary and her staff. Since my son has left Strongbridge I have not found anything comparable. Needless to say, I highly recommend Strongbridge Montessoir School and Hilary Mosher. I cannot think of a greater asset to the education system.

I have been employed as a Preschool Therapeutic Behavioral Aide by Changing Tides Family Services and I am writing to highly recommend Hilary Mosher. I have spent many hours observing at Strongbridge Montessori School since its inception, and have found it to be a well-structured environment in which its students are always engaged in developmentally appropriate activities. Strongbridge provides its students with a nurturing, consistent environment that encourages individual development as well as positive group interactions Hilary Mosher is very professional and extremely knowledgable regarding the development of the preschool child. She handles special needs children with expert attention, and advocates strongly on their behalf. She is able to make effective referrals to outside agencies/professionals when necessary, but also handles difficult situations with aplomb. She sets clear expectations with both students and parents alike, has a great sense of humor and imbues her students with a strong sense of self-worth on a daily basis. Mosher offers an expert balance of affection and reasonable consequences necessary to set effective boundaries for the preschool age group. I have found Strongbridge Montessori School to be one of the highest-quality preschools in Humboldt County and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an effective program for their child.

My family's experience with Strongbridge Montessori has been life changing and absolutely phenomenal and it has extended over the last five years. Two of my three children have attended Strongbridge starting on its very first day of operation. I knew immediately that HiIary understood my child when she came to our home prior to the first day genuinely interested in learning about him. She studied him so that she could help him blossom to his full potential despite having a significant speech delay. She left our home visit very confident that he would succeed in the Montessori classroom. I believed her and took that leap of faith which has proved to be the best decision we have made concerning our kids' education. Strongbridge provides a solid foundation and that is truly an understatement. That same child with the speech delay left Hilary reading chapter books, multiplying and dividing, and well aware of the countries of the world at age 6. Most importantly his love of learning was fed, valued, and encouraged every day he attended school. My youngest son is getting ready to finish his time at Strongbridge Montessori and it has been wonderful for him too. The reading, math, cultural, and science foundation he has received has been amazing. I know he will succeed in his future school career because he has a solid foundation and he loves to learn! The thing I think that is most different and special about Montessori education, specifically at Strongbridge, is the calm, peaceful quality of the classroom, the organization, the way the kids learn to carefully put their materials away and take out new ones and place their learning materials on their learning space (mats). The kids respect the culture of the classroom and they come to rely upon it as a daily source of calm. I am very satisfied in the education my kids have received at Strongbridge. I whole-heartedly recommend this school.
